The Other Wizards
Nephandi
The nephandi are the followers of pure chaos. They are the unnamed wizards. For their incredible crimes against the sleepers and the other wizards, the nephandi have been mostly driven from Æor into unknown reaches of the Tapestry. Although sightings are rumored from time to time, it is doubtful that there are any nephandi left in their human form.
Marauders
The marauders are bizarre and very difficult to understand. Upon speaking with one, you would think they are either anti-social geniuses that just don’t know how to get along… or most likely they’re just insane. The marauders also seem to be in their insanity, immune to paradox.
Constructus (Calculusts)
The constructus strive for enforced order beyond all other things and equality at any cost. As long as there are random elements in the universe, they will try to work them into their grand formulas. The constructus believe that their ascension lies in universal order and equality. The sub-group, the Calculusts, have been continually petitioning the Kalari to join their ranks. The calculists are able to alter reality in small ways by directly changing the Tapestry without using Vis. This is an amazing first step into a new world, but thus far they have been denied the status of a magic tradition.
Outsiders
- Solitaries - The solitaries are wizards who have lost their collective. Perhaps they were part of a craft that was destroyed by another force or perhaps the only surviving member of a tradition that was wiped out. Solitaries are dangerous because of their singular focus on revenge at any cost. They spend all of their energy to equal a score against someone who wronged their collective. Be warned!
- Crafts - Crafts are small bands of non-aligned wizards who have formed a collective. Whatever common bond they hold is strong enough to hold them together and give them a singular purpose.
- Infernal Sorcerers - The infernal sorcerers may or may not have magic of their own. They fight with granted powers of Vis or Katravis given to them by some infernal pact. Common arrangements are failed wizards trading their Essence upon death or their avatar in life to a demon in exchange for some magic.
- Hedge Mages - Hedge mages are sleepers that have picked up bits of spell-casting here and there. Their powers are limited, but if they become awakened, they grow as a threat to existing orders. They owe no allegiance and have a very rudimentary understanding of magic or indeed any of the consequences of their spell-casting. Other wizards manage them on an individual basis. Some hedge mages go on to become consors or even apprentices.
- The Scourged - From time to time, a child is born different or perhaps in some cases the ability manifests itself later in life. A sleeper has an ability they don’t understand to have some small affect on the tapestry around them. This ability can be as small as making people sneeze at will or as large as causing buildings to crumble just by force of will. Wizards resent the ability of these sleepers to have an effect on the tapestry they don’t understand without even having to worry about paradox. Other sleepers usually see the hedge mage as demon possessed. They often refer to their own power as their “Gift” - though whether it's a gift or a scourge is up for interpretation.
