He has petitioned the Kalari on multiple occasions to allow the calculists to join their ranks, but their craft doesn't use vis. Rowan became a full wizard at 16 and at the age of 24 was the first wizard in 40,000 years to read the Tól Maginesta (The Book of Essence). Reading the text forever changed Rowan. Zael of Druswich (Human female, gifted, Princess of Tarquin, aura-dark green)
Hair: light brown
Eyes: golden brown
Zael was found wandering by Jairin after she fled her village. Jairin raised her for ten years as his own daughter. Her father is a necromancer named Valdon. When his wife Sharon of Druswich died in pregnancy, he kept her alive with his craft—delivering Zael before allowing her mother to pass. Valdon has always blamed Zael for Sharon's death, among all the other down moments of his life that followed. Zael's back is scarred from beatings and a fire which nearly killed her when she was young. In Shadows of the Unleashed and most of Flight of the Avians, Zael cannot speak. She is awakened and has familiared a Dalion’s Ridge Hawk named Llanawa.
Llanawa: “Mother of twenty-three. Or twenty-one. The lynx killed her last clutch. She is called Llanawa the Gifted, and until ten minutes ago she never knew why.”
To Zael, the world of death is as real as the world of living. She ran from her father's torture and survived briefly as a beggar before being adopted by Jairin of Glensong. As long as she can remember, Zael has fainted at unpredictable intervals. In the brief moments while she passes out, she lives another life in an Other Place (not another place.) She was chased from her village, accused by her father of being a demon. From whispers in the Other Place, Zael has pieced together that her father had been trying to use his wife Sharon as an essence source to summon a demon–a skill he did not have as a necromancer. The spell targeted the then-unknown child Sharon carried and it went haywire, shortly after claiming Sarah's life. Zael is stunningly beautiful, but hides her scars from the world. She has set out on adventure with Katherine “Raven” of Glensong.
